Heh, RErender beat me to it.
But be careful, it´s still in alpha stage and quite bugy. I wouldn´t use it in production yet.

yeah I've seen that before...but as stefan said it's still an early alpha......we'll see...
it seems like these guys are doing what Descreet should've provided out of the box...

            So whassup with VRay 1.1...?
That was and is the question ?!
How long are we waiting for this one?
For us here it would be quite satisfying to have one for Max5.
If there are problems with Max6 - who cares? Will they be solved before Max7 arrives?
Meanwhile we are quite pi**ed off because we have scenes laying around here we can´t render with Vray anymore because of the polycount that we have to bring back to Max Scanline. Our customers won´t wait any longer, till the probs with Max6 are solved.

If you like the modifier stack... have you tried Houdini? It is initially extreemly hard to use but eventually when you learn it... it is amazing. Competely node based. Sorta like Shake or Nuke. So instead of having your stack evolve liniarly, you can have it expand in 2 dimensions, an have it interconnected with the whole scene. It is the ultimate in procedural building.

Ive wanted to try Houdini, as Im an anal retentive control freak, but haven't gotten around to the demo. Maybe Im afraid Ill like it then cry cause I can't afford it

Houdini artists are very rare, but are always needed. if you know houdini you can get a job...

Ah yes, Houdini. That name pops up again every once in a while. I find it a bit strange though that a program that's supposed to be so fantastic is so rarely heard of and has such a limited user base. How come?

                    Cheers,

P.S.: Sorry for the off-topic babble.

because most peeps who say it´s so fantastic never worked with it and only repeat others.

I feel exaxtly the same. The issues I have with Windows XP Pro and my Dual 3.2 Xeons are heartbreaking.I have grand indepth scenes that cannot be rendered with all the beauty and speed Vray ofers with lower poly count scenes. My 3 Gigs are usesless with Vray.Only 1.5 gigs worth can ever be used,Vray does not recognise the full 3 Gigs of memory. The issue with V-Ray the Worlds most beautiful and fastest renderer remains the same when working with XP Pro.

So will 1.1 ever come out.I and I know many others have waited now for well over a year, with numerous promises, but with no solution thus far.I love VRay for both it's beautiful rendering abilities and it's speed, but I just need to have more ceiling poly count wise when working with XP pro and Vray.

I also have a couple other machines. One is a lower end 1.3 Athlon with 1.3 gigs of memory and Windows NT.I am able to get higher poly counts rendered with the 1.3 Athlon and 1.3 gigs of memory than my 3.2 Dual Xeons and 3 gigs of memory or my other machine a 2.6 gig MP Athlon with 2 gigs of memory. It's a Windows XP issue. It's killing me,I need the beauty and speed Vray offers with high end poly counts.

I have tried all the tricks, instanciate and replicate. But it is to no avail. Is there any sign of help.I desperatly need an answer please.

Please any clue would be most appreaciated. Thanks very much.
