  • Motion Blur with PhysicalCamera and Realflow Mesh?

    Hi there,

I was wondering if there is a way to achieve some motion blur while using a RealFlow Mesh and the PhysicalCamera. So far everything remains sharp..
I already searched the forum but I didn't find a solution or a clear answer for this issue.

    Thanks,
    Felix

it should work regardless of physical camera. Did you export the motion vector data from realflow with in the mesh?

      Thanks Dmitry.
I guess not. I already read about exporting the motion vector data from, but I did not find such an option in RealFlow.

perhaps you have to enable it in the mesh loader in side 3ds max?

There is just a Motion Blur Strength Mutliplier which I already cranked up..

It strange, because the V-Ray velocity pass shows the correct vector information..

thats odd, set your motion multiplier to 1, and set your motion blur duration to less then 1, see if you get anything.

                Same issue with maya.

The workaround with maya is to convert it to vrmesh using ply to vrmesh converter tool and load that into your scene rather than using the mesh generated out of RF.

I've used realflow meshes succesfully in both max and maya with motion blur and vray. I don't have realflow handy, but I know it works...if you can't come up with a solution let me know, I will see about getting something setup. What realflow and vray version you are using?

Make sure you are using the "movie" mode of the V-Ray physical camera. The "still" mode often produces motion blur intervals larger than one frame or spanning frame boundaries in which case it is not possible to compute correct motion blur for RealFlow. With the "movie" camera type, it is a lot simpler to keep the motion blur interval between frames.

                    Best regards,
                    Vlado

Not sure if this still applies, but I remember having to check the object option under motion blur in the mesh object properties to get RealFlow sims to have blur in Max.

Also, using Frost to mesh RF particles I get MB with VRay... I prefer Frost, but it is an extra expense.
