  • Material Library woe

Hate when I load a .max file in the material library to grab a material. And accidentally hit save for that file when closing out -_-
Just lost my most recent .max file for a project.. Only a days work since I save incrementally, but still.

Are there any easy and safer practices for grabbing materials from one file to another?

and you should really consider having a backup script

a nice one is incorporated in the trackscript pack
      http://3d-kstudio.com/3ds-max-plugin.../trackscripts/

it moves the old files with a versioning into a backup folder every time you hit save, that means that you never overwrite on top of another file, and you never lose anything.

never got a file crashing when saving and lost all the xref called? or max crashing and when recovering creating a dummy in staid of your object?
never got that again with the backup scripts
