Hi! Any way to get rid of the pattern on the area shadows? I know more subdivisions will probably make it better, but I'm not sure if I'm going the right direction, because I almost got rid of it, but render time went over 1.5 hrs a frame....

Stick up a frame showing the problem and we'll give you a better idea. I'd also recommend turning on the vray frame buffer and adding in the following render elements:
VrayRawLighting
VrayRawGlobalIllumination
VrayRawReflection
VrayReflection
VraySpecular
VrayMTLReflectGlosiness
VraySampleRate
As you can use those to quickly chase down where you've got noise and what's possibly causing it. Is that Victor Wolanksy of syntheyes fame by the way?

I also noticed that if instead of lowering the noise threshold in the DMC so much, lets say I raise the light subdivision to 128, I go down from 6 minutes to 2 per frame, with a much better result than the previous noisy 2 minutes render, but not as good in the low lights parts as the one where I lower the DMC....
But one thing I'm not sure I understand is why when I raise the subdivisions on the light, the general scene becomes brighter???
Thanks for your help to all of you.... saving my a......

Read this thread. It will greatly help you with the various methods of cleaning out noise without killing render times! It is a must read for everyone in my office! http://forums.chaosgroup.com/showthr...ng-DMC-Sampler

Yep, I've read through it at least 7-8 times and still getting more from it. It's a LOT to take in and absorb!

Heya Victor,
First things to have a look at is the override bits in the global switches section of the vray tab in the render dialog. You'll be using the override material and using some of the light on / off toggles. Then the vray frame buffer with the elements listed above and try running through this workflow:
