Since we are using universal licensing... and losing quite few "free" stuff... Would it also make sense to make Vray Production render also universal ? So If I have Vray license I can use it on max/maya/softimage and everywhere else as long as its 1 copy running? I think that would make it quite lovely for all that use multiple packages

why did it have to happen? obviously not privy to the internal workings of Chaos, but they seemed to be doing rather well with the current licensing system...?
Well all they did with licensing is to line them up with other render engines like MR and so on.

Right, so to upgrade my relatively small setup I will have to pay EUR500. I presume these Universal Render Nodes include DR functionality as well as regular Network Rendering?

I would really love to get more details and explanations regarding new node licensing... I at the moment I'm scared. - I know it had to happen but ehh Cut some slack to small freelancers!

Is the universal node the only one we can have? No way of having old vrya licensing with 10dbr + render nodes?
How does it works with maya?

    Thanks, bye.

to be fair i should have read more carefully before posting.. its not quite 250 euros a node *when upgrading*

if you upgrade and pay more (700 euros instead of 300) you get 11 render nodes.

still a looong way from 10 free dr, and unlimited network rendering.

    Dory: It's so... *pretty*.
Marlin: [mesmerized] I'm feeling... happy, and that's a big deal... for me.
Dory: I want to touch it...
[she does; the light bobs quickly away]
    Dory: Oh!
Marlin: Hey, come back. Come on back here. I'm gonna get you.
    Dory: Come here.
Marlin: [singing] I'm gonna swim with you...
Dory: I'm gonna get you. I'm gonna get you.
Marlin: [singing] I'm gonna be your best friend...
[a big scary fish looms into view]
    Marlin: ...Good feeling's gone

so we have gone from unlimited network rendering and 10 dr licenses in vray 2.0 to ONE network rendering and ONE dr license in vray 3.0 ?!

hardly an upgrade, and enough to make me think very hard if it will be worth me doing so.. and i only have 5 machines!!!

i also cant see how -apart from some exceedingly specific cases, its "reducing the costs"

wow, never thought id be complaining on the vray forum...

I thought these times were finally over. What a pity, will have to stay at 2.4 then.

Ok to generate the WBC you need to go to http://localhost:30304/ then "Get Statuses" then click the bottom link "to upgrade your licenses" then Generate WBC. Save and send it off with the form. Seems to have worked.

if so thats the first thing chaosgroup have ever done that i dont approve of.
I missed that bit... that's not good news if we're understanding it correctly...?

Regarding the WBC file it looks like this can be generated using the License Server, but I'm using the License Server Service, so I can't "run" it in order to generate the file.
