  • Distributed rendering limited to 10 boxes

can anyone give me an explanation, why DR is limited to 10 computers? Is this caused by a physical limit or licensing? I would like to use more than 10 boxes for a large image.
    thanks in advance

I believe this is a licencing limitation.

I think vray has no limit on slave machines
I do know that Windows only allows 10 users at a time!!! UNLESS, you use windows server! Its there funny way of saying buy Windows Server for all that money cause you're using 10 machines already.
So no answer from chaos regarding this?

no, no answer yet, wrote a email too. I'm on win server here (8-way xeon) with 20 client licenses, so that's no problem. I wish it would be possible, I want to feed my other machines too

DR is limited to 10 nodes with one vray copy. More nodes is extra.
Slave rendering via backburner is not limited.

I know, but what do we have to pay for that "extra"?

limited to 10 computers, luckily. Try that with Mental Ray, I would be bankrupt with my 2 8-way xeons, 4 4-way xeons and the other dual xeons here. Another point for Vray

10 computers, no matter how many processors you have in each computer - this is quite sweet from Chaos. Mental Ray is licensed by a PROCESSOR and the price is 2x more than ONE Vray Advance - so be happy you have possible 10 node licences in your base package.
If you need more I think you need to buy another Vray Advanced => additional 10nodes for DR.
