  • Vray RT vs Vray Production

    Hi,

Hopefully I have posted this in the right place and it's not something that has been posted too many times before.
I've been using the Vray RT active shade to setup my scene and tweak lights and all that however when it came to rendering the colours were completely different. Any Idea what would cause this and how I can get the results from the RT render instead of the production renderer.

    Any help would be appreciated

    What's the material like?

In any case, we are reworking the shading pipeline of the RT engine to use the same code as the production renderer; hopefully this will greatly reduce the cases where the two are different.

      Thanks for the quick reply

Here's a few more screenshots, material and colour mapping. Hopefully this will help a bit more.

I believe RT doesn't support the "Environment overrides" are you using CPU or GPU?

I'm using CPU. I also put the HDRI in the environment slot in the environment panel, this was just for visual reference as I didn't know the override's don't work. Though the issue is I actually want to get the RT outcome with the production renderer as the RT doesn't save with an Alpha channel. Unless there is a way around that?

Can you send this scene ?
I think the issue is related to the Fog-color if you are using last official Vray version - we have that bug already fixed in the 3.0 version but in earlier versions fog-color generates different results.

Hi, thanks for the reply. I've attached the scene file. I think it does have something to do with the fog colour, just doing a quick test, I bought the saturation all the way down so it's almost white and seemed to look similar to the Vray RT render. Wasn't quite there but will probably have to do some tweaking.

Yeap - it is a Fog-color issue. Like I said earlier this has been already fixed into the last 2.x Nightly Builds and in Vray 3.0 beta as well.

Thanks so much for your help
I did some playing around with the fog colour today and got something that was close enough, it's now much easier to tweak in post and get right.

                  Thanks for your help.
