  • distributed rendering oftenly not responding during the rendering process

    hello guys,
i encountered a problem last night. i render a hi rise building for my
    client. there are 4 images.

1 images for day light and the rest 3 images are night rendering.

when rendering the daylight, we have no problem rendering using distributed
rendering. but for the night rendering. the dr. spawner not working well.

    this are the case :
    1. the dr spawner need lots of time to start the rendering.
    2. and when it render, it only render for a while and suddently not
responding (i saw the msg on vray log msg) and it keep going like that so i
need to render around 3 more hours this way on 5000 pixels. which is if the
dr spawner work well, i might need less than 1 hour.

    the configuration :
    1. workstation i7 3930k, 64 gb of ram
    2. 2 slave boxx e2670 2.6 GHZ, 32 gb of ram
    3. 3dsmax 2012 and vray 2.4.0.4

but the funny thing is when i render the other scene, it work perfectly. i
suspected there are some problem with my scene but i dont know what is it.

is there anyone can help me with this ? or if u have any experience having the same problem and have the answer please let me know. thank you in advanced

If you wish, you can send us the scene to vray@chaosgroup.com and we'll try to figure it out. Other than that, look at the V-Ray log file on the render slave, maybe it has clues.

    Best regards,
    Vlado

that is the problem, the file around 2 GB with the bitmap and the proxies. even i lower the size of the bitmap, it will be around 1.5 gb still. and it will took more than 12 hours to upload it since uploading speed on my country are really really slow. and i am in a hurry to finish the project. also i didnt have a chance to check the vray log on the render slave last night. and i checked now it already gone, replaced by the other rendering already. i will try to check it tonight when we do the rendering for this scene again.

Thanks, do you have any other plugins (MultiScatter etc)?

Also, are things better if you turn on the option "Restart slaves on render end" in the DR settings?

          Best regards,
          Vlado

yes i use multiscatter and color correct.

and i already use turn on the option restart slaves on render end. and the problem still persist
i still need to render 4 images in hi resolution and now already 1.30 AM in the morning

I suspect that it is something with the MultiScatter, but without the scene, I can't say anything specific, unfortunately.
