Could somebody explain these parameters to me

There are lots of annoying parameters I can't understand in the Global Photo map roll-out:

1.Bounces
2.Auto search dist
3.Interp. samples
(another interp.sample parameter showed in Indirect illumination(GI) roll out, what is the diffrence between them?)
4.Convex hull area estimate
5.Mutiplier
6.Max density
7.Retrace threshold and Retrace bounces
(why does it need to trace again?)
8.Switch to saved map
