Trying to wrap my head around this issue. I have a number of teapots on a ground plane. The ground plane is a matte object to catch shadows.
I have another object that casts shadows on to the teapots. I would like that object to continue casting shadows on the teapots, but not cast a shadow on the ground plane.
Of course I could just do my matte pass to catch the shadows on the ground plane separately, and turn off the shadow casting object for that pass. However, I would like to do it all in one pass, at least for test renders.
Can you think of a way to do this? I don't mind making two copies (instance) of my shadow casting object. I'd like to avoid two copies of the teapots (they are not really teapots, but this is the best simple example). That may end up being the way I have to do it though??
Thanks.
