how can i create selfilluminated (light emitting) material?
"selfillumination" in max standard material seems to be far too
    weak........
    any trick or workaround available?

All you have to do is put an Output map in the Self-illumination channel of a Standard material and check the Color box up in Basic Parameter section. To controll ammount use the RGB Level or Output Amount fields.

very true J_Bug.... you could also use a self illuminated mat put a vray material wrapper on it and turn up the amount of GI that material will produce ... both techniques work fine

True, actully I'd suggest the second way now that I think about it. Either way you do it you can also use the VRayWrapper and uncheck Receive GI for the light source. If you do it the way Natty's described then you can choose a color for the Self-Illum swatch for a subtle color temperature effect.

You can also use the light material in my VRay material collection:

I don't have Viz, so I can't really test it. I know there are some problems with some versions, but they are hard to debug/fix without being able to reproduce the error here.

I have both viz and max...but I use mostly viz because my company still has viz 4.2

I'll give it a try for your latest mat-plug on viz and see what happens....

Is your material compatible with photons?

in 3dsmax whatever renderer u use, no object can emit photons...
                      only lightsources.
