  • ABOUT FALLOF MAP MEANING

    Hi all..
Who can explain me the meaning of a Fresnel Fallof MAP....I know what a fresnel reflection is...
I usually use a fallof map in the Vray Reflection slot...What I can't menage really well are the white and black SLOT of the FALLOF MAP.

In which way do they affect the reflection? What depdends on their amount? what about using bump in these slotes?

    Thank You

the density of an object affects it IOR. so yes, non-transparent objects also have IOR so to speak. This effects reflections on the surface depending on the angle you look at it. Falloff reflections make things look more realistic and the IOR will affect how much it falls off

What does mean using grayscale x example?

you can easily check it by applying the falloff to the diffuse channel - standard setting is black: normals facing to the camera, white: normals bending away from the cam.

mhh...so applying a fallof map in the reflection channel...I can control the reflection's distribution on a surface (using x ex. the graph controls in the options menu), do you mean that?

I can reduce the area of reflection facing to camera or increase it, can't I?

          Thank You
