  • Keep proxies in memory?

    Hi,

is there any way to keep Vray proxies, or even entire scene geometry in the memory between renders? I have a few high poly proxies, that are being stored on a network drive so all render slaves can access it when needed. While LAN is quite fast, it is still not nearly fast as local drive so every time i do a test render, it takes about 20 seconds for proxy geometry to load from network drive. And as i do shading and lighting, i do a lot of test renders, so this eats a lot of time. Mental Ray has something called Geometry cache, so i really believe Vray has something like that as well.

We don't have this right now. Though if you are using DR with V-Ray 3.0, you can turn on the automatic assets transfer feature, which will cache the proxy locally on the render servers.

    Best regards,
    Vlado
I only act like I know everything, Rogers.

Heh, we are waiting for 3.0 to be released, because it should be any moment. It takes a while to deploy it on all render nodes, so it would be a pain to get all that work done with beta version, and then have to do it again a few days later when retail 3.0 gets released. So i hope it will be out soon
