  • Upgrade to Vray 3.0 questions

We currently have one license of Vray 2.0 and wish to upgrade to 3.0.

    1. Will 3.0 work with the license server like 2.0 does?
    2. Our renderfarm is comprised of 20 nodes, yet the maximum that can be purchased is 10. If I understand correctly we would need to buy another seat of Vray to be able to buy the licenses for the remaining nodes.
This seems an odd requirement doesn't it? I don't need a second license of Vray, I need licenses for my remaining nodes.

Thank you in advance for your advice.
    David

I think you can upgrade up to 10 nodes for single vray 2 license. if you need more, you can buy separate render node licenses with no need of another workstation license.

It would be best to email us to vray@chaosgroup.com as my ability to answer sales questions is a bit limited; our support and sales guys will be able to give you precise info. In general though, as rivoli mentioned you can buy as many render nodes as you wish, it is not necessary to get another GUI license.
