  • Bought v3 but here's a DR licensing question..........

I bought the upgrade + 5 render nodes. So that means i can render on 6 machines, right ? Well, i "can" do that, but i want to be able to do it "always" and not with the current restrictions.
I have always wanted to be able to do DR with the option of making the host machine "passive" (i.e. not participate in the render). v3 makes that possible which is great.
However, I have 6 render nodes (& will never, ever get more than 6!) & I want to be able to do a DR to all 6 render nodes (because my license allows me to render on 6 machines.)
The host machine would not be doing any rendering, it would simply be the machine that sets it up. The idea being that i can render on those 6 spare machines & work on something else
with the host machine. However, it does not let me do that. Why cant the spare license that is not rendering anything be used by a render node ??

Does the local host use a render license even though it's only showing the render in progress, not participating?

that is what seems to be happening, which i am saying is rather disappointing. I thought the GUI & Nodes were supposed to be "seperate".
For example, I could probably send the job through Backburner & I am guessing that if i shut down 3dsMax - I should be able in theory to render
on all 6 nodes. It would be more convenient though if one could do that without having to send a backburner job.

        Hi ,

Would like to inform you that we are aware of this and it will be changed in the future, but unfortunately we can't give any time frame for the moment.
        Thank you.
