  • Animation, use camera path vs multiframe

    Hi all,

Have an animation where some of the shots are quite short forward of sidewise pans.

Remembered the use camera path option might be worth a try.

Is there a rule of thumb for working out the light cache settings or irradiance. ie at the moment using LC 2000 and irradiance map -3/0 50 20. Should we be over sampling the irradiance map?

Also is this the proffered method or should we just stick to multi frame?

    Thanks

increase the IR map to the total number of samples you want over the path, 50/20 is far too low. you're looking at using numbers in the hundreds.

I rarely use it tbh - I've been sticking with multiframe. Comes in useful on certain shots though.

Is there any calculation based upon how long the path is for the samples and is it just hSph to change and not interpolation?

It is very scene dependent, usually use camera path method is more suitable for short camera movement.

and is it just hSph to change and not interpolation?
Yes, only the HSPH. Sundivisions are important, the Interpolation samples value is taken into account at the rendering stage only.

Regarding the differences between those GI approaches, you can check this thread :
