You could have bought all new licenses for 3.0 or left one 2.x license as it was and upgraded the rest since you probably wont need all the license you have as 2.x. As far as I know anytime you pay for an upgrade (not subscription there is a difference) you are updating your old license to a newer version, that is why it is a lot cheaper than buying a new license.

      Hi jamesvecore,

Jason Stewart is correct. When you upgrade you pay less and that's why you loose your older version.
It is indeed a good practice to render a project with the same version of V-Ray from start to finish. It is possible that 2.2 will render differently some images from 2.5 but we keep that in mind when we create updates. We do not want our clients to have totally different renderings so for most of your older scenes you will have same results with 2.5 and only in specific cases you will have to make adjustments.
Nevertheless we are sorry to hear that you haven't received what you expected for your money. If you run into problems with your older projects you can drop us an email to support @ chaosgroup.com explaining that you need to use previous version of V-Ray 2.0 and we will see what we can do to help you.
