  • Creating an animated 'digital water wall'

So I need to show an animated digital water wall

See what I mean here https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=di...w=1202&bih=834

I initially thought this would be easy with a stretched noise map in the opacity slot of a Vray watery sort of material, turns out that looks a bit rubbish.

Anyone ever done something like this?

I guess for the actual 'lit up' part I'll just some blend between vraylight mat and the water mat.

Maybe you can try with particles, particle flow for an example ?

I did consider this, but it's too unwieldy for this project. Thinking it must be doable with some creative mapping of 2D planes..could be wrong though!

Using a birth texture and a thin animated map should work. get the full image and create an ae comp where you transform it from top to bottom in a narrow bar, use that as a mask to emit particles. over emphasise the highlights & motion blur should get it very close.

I don't know if this is usable for you but it's made with a quick "Scracht" map created in Photshop (Filters - Render - Fibers). The dark logo is applied with map channels so it could be any graphic you want.
