I'm starting to wonder if GPU really is the right way forward for at least architectural visualization. It seems as if it would be tough for a separately maintained, parallel technology like this to catch up with whatever happens on the CPU side in terms of new developments, plugins, etc. In the meanwhile there are more and more cores on regular processors and things like progressive rendering/RT CPU becomes faster. I know there is a significant speed difference right now, but one all also has to consider that the money spent on Titans and Cudas could be spent on render nodes instead. After all these are final render capable and will always be.
