  • Pure white in renders 255,255,255

    Hi guys,
I know this is to be avoided, and as someone suggested, my purest white is now 195. But what about textures? Are they handled differently than diffuse colour? What if some of my textures have 255,255,255 areas in them?

I would imagine its the same issue as above. Clamp them, lower them. Unless they 32 bit?

      No, I mean normal jpg.
By clamp you mean adjust in PS or check "clamp" in output of max rollout?

Not sure tbh. I tend to use gray textures for diffuse or 85% bright for diffuse. It goes only for diffuse, the reflection/refraction/gloss etc can be 100% white.

I wouldn't recommend this either - as no material is 100% reflective, refractive, or glossy.

As a general rule of thumb, try not to go over RGB values of 240 in the cases of 8-bit color or image inputs... or 0.95 in the case of floating-point color or image inputs.

You can reduce the RGB level in the Output section of the Bitmap a bit, f.e. to 0.75 or something like that (if you aim to remap pure 255 white in the texture to 195).
