  • Price gouging for Australian Customers

For a small company like chaos that im disappointed that you are following the model of Autode$k and Adobe in your price gouging for Australia customers. Why are we not able to purchase an upgrade from 2.0 to 3.0 for $420 (available in the US). Instead our local distributor is asking around $1200 for the same product.

We are tired of this type of region based licensing model and thought Chaos would be ethical enough to avoid it, but no, even as vray users for 12 years we get stung.

EDIT -ok i rang the distributor, and the price increase looks like it is for the 5 rendering nodes. which is not quite as bad, but still im not happy having been a vray user and supporter for so long, to have to pay for render nodes all of a sudden. I thought the price of vray should be going down as more alternatives enter the market, not up.

There were long discussions here on the forum about this during the beta when this was announced; as unfortunate as it may seem, we are not able to offer free render nodes anymore.

You mean that because we would have less customers, and with the ever-increasing amount of work that we need to do, we should also charge less? We could do that, but we won't survive for long.

    Best regards,
    Vlado
