Point Cloud rendering in VRay (Autodesk PointCloud object)

Please forgive me if this has already been covered, I did a search and didn't find anything...

Vlado, et al., What's the status of VRay support of the new Point Cloud object type in 3DS Max. Autodesk added it to Max 2014 in the subscription pack and it's part of the Max 2015 install. Is there plans to support rendering it soon? I have some upcoming projects that would benefit from this. Currently I'm limited to using Mental Ray for this.

We have not looked into that yet - we needed to get point rendering working with Alembic files first. If you can convert your point clouds to Alembic files, you can render them through a VRayProxy object right away.

Direct support for the point cloud objects will be included in the first service pack for V-Ray 3.
