  • VFB - saving exr's with different depths?

    hello folks,

i am currently trying to save multiple exr's with different depths (e.g. beauty 16 bit, velocity 32 bit) using vray 2.4 VFB. so far all exr's getting saved with the same depth which seems to come from the main file, configured in the vfb rollout. without using the VFB, everything gets saved according to the render elements file settings.

oh, and another thing i was just wondering about is how vray calculates the velocity for the render element. i built a thinking particles routine to evaluate the particles highest velocity but the render elements' "last frame velocity" only showed about 1/10th of the tp calculation..

    cheers

If you use the V-Ray VFB, we save all channels with the same bit depth. A per-channel setting is on the "to do" list for a while, but we haven't gotten there yet.

    Best regards,
    Vlado

Thanks Vlado. Do you also happen to know about the velocity calculation?

      Thanks

The V-Ray velocity element is in screen space (the amount of pixels that the object moves) whereas your routine very likely works with world-space velocities.
