I wanted to ask here if the vray HDRI map is meant to replace the standard max bitmap altogether anymore. I remember this thread here where there was some mention that it's faster than the max bitmap method. http://forums.chaosgroup.com/showthr...map+pager+hdri However it seems that was due to just the bitmap pager? Or are there other reasons to use jpgs and tifs etc. in the vray hdri?
I noticed in Vray 3 that the default setting is 3dsmax standard, and I was curious as to why that is. The reason I ask is because I keep attaching HDRIs for a dome light and getting weird results because I forgot to change it to spherical. Is the new default a suggestion for a total switch? If so, is there a way to convert all max bitmaps to hdri's?
Also, is there some command I can use or ini I can edit to make spherical the default? (Less important but I thought I'd ask.)
