Hi folks,
I've always lived by the mantra "don't mix your Operating Systems in DBR/Network Rendering". It's just one less incompatibility to have to worry about. But I am being forced to upgrade my nodes from 12GB RAM to 24GB RAM, so they need Windows 7 Professional or Windows 8, both of which can use plenty of RAM. The nodes currently have Win 7 Home Premium, so limited to 16GB ram (12 in reality, since these machines use triple channel ram).
I would ideally like to upgrade the nodes to windows 8 for a bit of future-proofing, but my main workstation is windows 7 pro, and I have no plans to upgrade that yet.
Am I safe to use windows 7 pro on my workstation, which hosts the License Server, and use Windows 8 on my nodes?
Thanks,
