  • how to render a multichannel exr?

Could someone tell me how to do this? Can't get it to work from either the VFB or batch render. I have the OpenEXR plugin for Photoshop, which allows me to view multichannel exrs I render from Maya fine.

    Here are my settings

    and my batch render settings

Any help would be great! Just started work for a place that uses V-ray for 3ds Max so not sure of some of this stuff (and neither are they)

    Hi,

In order to save multichannel EXR or Vrimg file you must use the V-Ray Raw image file output option in Render settings VFB section.

You will have to use the "raw output" option in the V-Ray frame buffer settings for this.

      Best regards,

        Heya

Humh if my memory serve me right I think he can use standard max output but he need to untick the "Automatically Add/Remove Render Elements for Render Dialog" and then just add it there. I think that then produce multichannel exr no ?

Yes, but V-Ray VFB must be turned off.

Edit: Actually I did a test using Automatically add/remove.. option checked and the output exr is also multichannel. 3DS Max 2014/latest official V-Ray 3
