  • Vray :: System, object and light settings

I wanted to know if the controls inside
Vray :: System, object and light settings
actually work. I havent seen any results by going into light settings and increasing the 'Diffuse multiplier' or such. Furhtermore, does object settings in here work as well? I want ot try to optimize some objects so they do not take into account 'Generate GI' which in theory should make vray go faster? Does this work yet?
I'm trying some tests now on a smaller study model but I'm pretty sure its not working. Also, why isnt there an environment, shadows or lighting EXCLUDE? If I add a wrapper I still get that object being lit up.

The light settings are for photons. I use both the wrapper and object settings for GI contribution all the time. They work fine on my end. Can you post some examples?

That makes sense that they would be for photons. thanks
Do the object settings overide the material wrapper settings? Will it work if those objects have standard materials?
No scene yet, just wondering before I explore further. I was dealing with a huge file and wanted to just see if the object settings worked the way they were intended to. Hopefully you dont have to use the wrapper AND the object settings to work one or the other should be fine I guess from what you're telling me.
Do you know anything about excluding objects from the skylight or environment? either excluding them from casting shadows or illumination?

I usually use one or the other for convenience. I'm not positive but due to the internal workings of max it seems like they would work hand in hand and not override one another. So if you have a bunch of objects with the same material and set the Wrapper to generate @ 0.5 and then set one of those objects @ 0.5 you should now have that object generating GI @ 0.25. I'd suggest you do some tests though, I'm not 100% on this.

Can't exclude from the skylight currently but I'm sure it's a big wish and maybe we'll see it soon.
