  • noise and render time

I am having a fairly simple scene

For 1600X960 render it is taking 7 hours 41 minutes 12.3 sec which is insane

Am I doing something wrong in my settings

I am very happy with the render quality with my machine (AMD 2.13 processor with 32 GB of ram)

Is this render time expected !!

Please guide me is their any way to optimize the scene having the same quality render

    These are my render settings

Adaptive DMC with Min 1 Max 20 color threshold 0.005

Global DMC sampler Adaptive amount 0.65 noise threshold 0.005

I am using vray 2.40.03 with max 2013 following LWF

I have attached render elements and the final render

That is indeed a long time. Try DMC with 1 - 8, and threshold at 0.01 with DMC sampler noise at 0.008

Also what are the subdivs for your lights/materials/...

      Thanks for the response

My material subdivs varies from 8 to 256

My light subdivs varies from 16 to 640

I am using a dome light with 640 sundivs

I tried your settings (DMC with 1 - 8, and threshold at 0.01 with DMC sampler noise at 0.00
it is not cutting down the noise

I know that the light and material subdivs are way too high, if I try to lower it is introducing noise

kindly suggest me if their is any work around

you don't need materials to be that high. That's why your render time is so long. For the gi, what kind of primary/secondary gi do you have? Using lightcache / for glossy rays and retrace might speed things up.

I am bruteforce and light cache
          brute force 128
light cache with 2000 subdivs, prefilter -100 use for glossy rays is ON

As I said before reducing the material settings is introducing lot of noise

whenever you use brute force the render time will be high, there is no way around that.

I suggest irradiance map, you can get better quality a lot faster.
