  • OT Smoothing a curved surface?

This may be a bit off topic (unless there's a vray modifier for the question).

I'm working on a customer-supplied stp file and it would appear that there aren't enough segments to create a smooth edge to the arch of the desk. I have both a UVW Map and ProOptimizer +VrayEdgesTex for nice rounded edges. But the overall arch is giving me issues when viewed fairly close up. I've tried Turbosmooth, but it doesn't help. Any other thoughts? Maybe it was more of a function when I first imported the stp file?

    Thanks.

Probably easiest to quickly remodel it than explore all these other options.

When you are importing a .stp file the mesh usually comes in as a body object. So you should be able to lower the 'face approximation angle' and the 'face distance %' to increase the resolution of the mesh.

You are correct, Dan. It did come in as a Body Object that I converted to Editable Mesh. I'll take a look at that and try what you suggested. Thanks much!
