  • Vray mesh light

I am trying to figure out why my mesh moves when I turn it into a light source using vray mesh light command.

The light is in the correct place but the mesh is not? Do I need to do something prior to the mesh before turning into a light?

    Thanks
    Cheers

Have you moved the pivot point of this object?
    This could be the reason.

Tashko before I turn it into a vray mesh light, I collapse the stack, center the pivot point, then use a xform and collapse again. But still the object and the light are not together.

The absolute failsafe method to get it to work as intended every time is centre the pivot on the mesh, reset the x-form, convert to editable mesh. Next make the vray mesh light and align it to the mesh. Finally select the mesh as the light object. Do it in this order and it basically guarantees the light will be in the correct place and at the same scale.

The light is in one place but the mesh is somewhere else?

Looks very odd, can you post a scene file for this?

I also have this same issue by the way. I think it might be a bug.

A scene file that reproduces this issue will be very helpful. Please post here or send directly to support@chaosgroup.com

There are some issue with State Sets of that scene:

The issue could be fixed by adding a Reset XForm Modifier to the letters before VrayMeshLight creation.
You can select all the object in the scene, then go to Utilities rollout click on Reset XForm button and then Reset Selected.

If you want to collapse Reset XForm modifier you can do it from Collapse Utility while all the objects are still selected:

Not sure what the issue is with the scene states, although it may have something to do with the fact that I save selected the letters out into a new scene.

Thanks allot Svetlozar. That seems to work fine now. I was using the xform not the reset xform that's my fault.
