  • work in same instance of Max while V-ray is rendering locally?

Is there a way to do this? Whenever I hit render, my instance of Max basically freezes up other than the VFB. Is there a workaround for this? I get the impression it's a Max thing rather than a V-ray thing (as in Maya I can render in V-ray locally and work in the same scene at the same time no problem)

    Cheers

No, there is no way to do this in Max except through V-Ray RT. V-Ray uses components of 3ds Max while rendering (geometry, lights, textures) and manipulating them during rendering could lead to all sorts of things (like the rendering changing as you adjust textures, or crashes if you edit objects etc). I do have a version of V-Ray where locking of the scene is disabled - funny things do happen

You could queue renders in backburner, even on the local machine, if you want to be able to render stages of the scene.

    Best regards,
    Vlado
I only act like I know everything, Rogers.
