I don't get it. All day I have been fighting a video driver issue. New computer with just a few applications installed. It has been running like a champ for a month, nothing new installed for weeks, and all of a sudden crashes all day. It got to a point where it would not boot at all. I pressed F1, and it finally booted. In MAX it froze when I went into shaded mode. It also froze in Photoshop. When I say froze, I mean the computer wasn't responsive at all. I know it's the video card because I was getting the bubble saying that the graphic card has recovered from a crash. I ended up rolling back the driver to a Autodesk certified one, but it had a whole new set of issues. I ended up uninstslling the driver, rebooted and let Windows install the driver and things are going okay. I'm assuming a Windows update gunked things up. What a pain! The video card is an NVidia 3800FX. Anybody else experience this?

That card came out 5 and a half years ago. Are you sure it was new?

        Its an old card.
IMO Geforce cards perform much better in 3Ds Max. From what I know GTX 760/750ti are recommended.
I own both a GTX 780 and GTX 770 and I can't tell the difference. (only compared to an old Quadro 4000 which was horrible)
        This is a signature.
