  • Running nightly and stable at the same time?

    Hi,

Is it possible to install a nightly build without touching the stable one? Meaning I have 2 renderers in 3ds max to chose from, on stable version and one nightly version?
I'd love to test the GGX shaders since if they are nice we will propably have to rework lots of our shaders. At the same time I want to keep a stable version on the systems for regular job purposes.
    Software:
    Windows 7 Ultimate x64 SP1
    3ds Max 2016 SP4
    V-Ray Adv 3.60.04

    Hardware:
    Intel Core i7-4930K @ 3.40 GHz
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780 (4096MB RAM)
    64GB RAM

Nope. Only on different 3ds Max versions...

    Best regards,

Couldn't that be done with some tweaking and a different 3dsmax shorcut, using -p command to load a different plugin.ini, with alternate VRay path ?

I suppose difficulties in maybe registry values et cetera when both VRays have the same variables? Anyways, maybe this is even better if one doesnt have that possibility. Would propably make for loads of more "nightly beta testers" who only want features, dont care to give feedback and take valuable support resources with inquiries and rants about bugged features

Yes, sure, this can be done and it works fine with a bit of setup.
