  • The classic "Distributed rendering, buckets render differently"

Hello, I have a problem with DR. Have a long experience using DR but recently got hired to a photostudio where on my computer, I cannot get the right result using our rendernodes. In general, it seems like they're loosing texturemaps or the hdr.

My colleague has an identical computer with the same softwares and it works like a clockwork.
If i create a scene on my computer, open it on the other machine and hit render, it doesn't render correcly with the slaves.

All scenes, textures and hdr is on the server. Doesn't matter if the scene is heavy or not.

My computer has been formatted and reinstalled but that hasn't helped. Have planned to upgrade the harddrive to a new ssd one so that might help, but I'm not so sure.

Workstation 1 & 2 are both connected to the same router and then joined to the other network with the rendernodes.

Let me know if you have any hints on new places for me to look for errors. Feel a bit like it might be a general-max-setting error on my computer since the error travels with the file itself.

I can add that if i send a job to the slaves through Deadline it can render the scene succesfully. (Well sometimes it saves a bit brighter than on my computer but that might be some gamma interference but its not relevant to my main problem.)

Edit: Oh, maybe posted in the wrong section? Should be in the 3Ds Problem category?

    Kind regards, yohan

Also: Is the final render that is saved also wrong, or only the buckets shown int he VFB?

In addition to the questions above, which 3ds Max version is that? Are you using VRayHDRI or 3ds Max Bitmap textures? It seems like since 3ds Max 2014, the new auto gamma options are causing issues, I've been pulling my hair out how to work around it.

      Best regards,
      Vlado
I only act like I know everything, Rogers.

Thank you for such a quick reply!

Checked the "Check for missing files" guess thats what you meen?
I'll do a new test and get back, didn't think of the fact that it could be a problem in the renderwindow but maybe not on the finished file.

It is 3ds 2013, vray adv. Using vrayhdri. Might be gamma, but i think that I also on previous attempts have lost som of the textures.

I'll get back with feedback and Vlado, be nice to your hair
