  • How exactly is the mousetracking with progressive rendering working?

    Hi,

I'd like to understand the underlying mechanism of the mouse tracking feature with the progressive renderer if that is possible.

How does it determine the radius?
How does it determine when to render the "inner" part and when to expand? Does it work like different "noise threshold rings" around it?
When I place the mouse and just let it render - will it finish completely? (I guess yes? ^^)

Thanks in advance for every explanation that brings me closer to understand it
    Software:
    Windows 7 Ultimate x64 SP1
    3ds Max 2016 SP4
    V-Ray Adv 3.60.04

    Intel Core i7-4930K @ 3.40 GHz
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780 (4096MB RAM)

The radius is fixed to about 40 pixels, I think. There is a parameter to control it, which is available through MaxScript, but is not in the UI.

It is exactly like different noise thresholds.

If you leave the mouse on, it will render, eventually, but it will converge much much slower than normal.

I only act like I know everything, Rogers.
