  • Vray distribution rendering

    Hi Guys

Just a quick question I wanted to posted in here about Vray Distribution Rendering

how come you are only aloud 9 machines plus the users machine's power on one image??

We have 16 machines downstairs 7 of them are not being used.

    any ideas?

    Cheers

    I assume you're on VRay 2.X?

Each GUI licence came with enough render node licences for 10 machines to be rendering at once. If you need more, you'll have to purchase a node licence.

In VRay 3.X it's even less, you only get 2 nodes (I think?) per GUI licence.

    Cache nothing. Brute force everything.

this is also a windows limitation, btw. If you render with MR and use all 16 machines, occasionally you'll get an error because more than 10 connections to your manager get reached. Now, if you have your manager and license running on windows server that's completely different.
But I'm guessing that's one reason they did that.

And you're right, you only get 2 nodes. That hurt me quite a bit. I'd rather just spend more money on faster machines than more render nodes, because faster machines help all the other software I use also.
