  • Bucket size scalling down

    HI everynoe,

In Vray 3,0 there is a new featur so that at the end of the rendering process bucket size starts scalling down. Eventually you got really small buckets.
It is working nice but ... is there any way to control WHEN it starts?
My experience shows that it simply starts to late so I left with the big size bucket by the end of the rendering anyway.

Attached the images (if it is not clear what I am talking about)

Dynamic Buckets are controlled automatically so far so there is no way to control them except turning them ON and OFF.
What you can do is to decrease bucket size initially, this should improve the CPU-utilization.

I would also recommend exploring progressive rendering. It utilizes the cpu better imo. You can just set the max render time and go have tea while your frame renders

Does progressive rendering work well with DR ? (like 5-6 render nodes)

Not in my tests, I think the network bandwidth is a culprit for me though. Otherwise it works just like any other DR mode.

Network bandwidth is one part of it, but there are improvements to be done in the V-Ray code as well.

            Best regards,

I was just testing this yesterday. The slave machine constantly shows around 50% of cpu usage while the main machine is at 100% (with progressive dr).
