  • Vray Displacement Clipping w/ use object material - Displacement value over 100

I was going crazy trying to figure out what was going on with a displacement test (I don't use it very often).

Just a simple noise map in a material slot and 3d displacement.

It turns out that if the displacement value is over 100 in the material, the displacement is clipped.

Is that as designed? I just assumed the displacement would be more exaggerated.

If it is intentional perhaps add a note in the manual under the Vraydisplacemod entry since it really threw me off.

    Hi,

Rising the Texmap Max parameter should help in this case > Click image for larger version

Thanks Tashko. That makes sense. I was primarily writing to see whether it was intentional and to request a note be added to the manual.

We will see if we can add some more information and examples to the Tex. map min/max section of the V-Ray Displacement documentation part.
        Thanks.
