  • using chaosgroup downloaded vray materials

Is there a good tutorial anywhere illustrating how to use chaosgroup's vray material downloads.
I get as far as downloading and extracting files to a new folder. But when in 3ds max design 2015, I try to open the material, it looks for .mat files.
There are only .vrmat files in the downloads.
Another rookie question I know, but, what am I missing?
    Thank You.

I've looked at these and I only get a red X in the preview, so I must be doing something wrong as well. Ironically that video had the same but he didn't address it.

Is it a future strategy that we should be using Vraymat materials in the future instead of the ordinary Vray Material? (Great name confusion btw)

This is fixed for the next service pack.

No. They are more for compatibility with other V-Ray integrations (Rhino/SketchUp etc).

          Best regards,
