Trying to open editor in VRayVRmatMtl causes crash

Just using chaosgroups material downloads for the first time and every time I try to "Open Editor" inside the vrayvrmatmtl, Max Design 2015 crashes with a runtime error, (see attachment).
I even have to reboot my pc to get this error message to go away.
Is there a way to convert these .vrmat files to normal vrayMtl so I can mess with the maps?

Would you please let us know the exact version of V-Ray installed on the machine?
What happens if you open VrayVRmat Editor without loading a material from file? Just create a new VrayVRmatMtl and click on Open Editor button.
Let us also know the exact version/service pack of 3DSMax and Operating System.

VrayVRmat materials cannot be converted to VrayMtls - it is possible however to tweak the entire material including maps in the VrayVRmat Editor.

Problem solved I think. I thought I was up to date on the latest build and realized I wasn't (Was on VRay 3.00.06).
Installed 3.00.08 and everything works fine now.
