Render vray 3 object with 2.4?

Is it possible to render an object created using vray 3, with vray 2.4? I just purchase a VR3 item from Turbosquid and it's rendering as black. Just wanted to confirm.

It should render fine, unless it uses some new material or texture that is not in 2.4

I can see the material just fine in the Material Editor. I can even apply that material to a teapot just fine. But it's that particular object that doesn't want to render with that material. Weird.

Edit: It's working now. must be something I was doing wrong. smh.

this was a vray mesh? sounds like a linking problem
