I was E3 today the usual display of explosions, noise and scantily clad women. I went into the Discreet "Chill out Area" and was surprized to find a board listing something called rte Hair
I went straight over wondering if they had a demo and the guy looked all embarassed and apologized saying that even though rte Hair was on the board it hadn't been released or even announced yet, it was actually ment to be a secret - Apparently it is Shag Fur & Hair as a certified plug-in and will be announced in the next couple of days.
I also overheard a something about 3ds 7 coming out in September - I suppose this will be another Siggraph launch.
Hope this is the kind of gossip you where looking for.
Actually there was a hint that vray fur would get it's animation from shag hair...
Does that mean that we'll have to have shag hair to animate the V-Ray fur?

VRay fur is just a really simple basic short fur plugin. It works well for a lot of cases though. The really powerful solution will be the Shag-VRay connection when that is released later on. This will let us render long, flowing hair with dynamics internally in VRay. But you will need to have both VRay and Shag to do this.
