I watched a few of Grant Marshall's videos and I saw he is using Brute Force for his Primary bounces. Are most folks using Brute now and not IR Map for arch rendering. Is this just a 3.0 thing?

Is everyone using Brute Force as Primary now?

for interiors it still makes sense to use irradiance. A good irmap settings will get you the BF look at a fraction of render time. For exterior and some other shots I tend to use BF just because its hassle free. Let the computer do the work.Dmitry Vinnik

I have a question, should there be a huge difference in lighting when using BF over IR? I just tried a scene for the heck of it and IR rendered normally. Then went in to render settings and only changed the IR to BF and left it default and hit render and the BF rendering came out substantially darker than the IR one. Is this normal?

Here is a pic of what happened.

I switched to using bf/lc when vray 3 was released. But I also got more rendering power at the same time... so its sort of balanced out. I do mostly interior renderings these days.Brendan Coyle | www.brendancoyle.com
