maybe you have to follow the thread closely FOB.
this particular problem was a bug in 1.45.x.x

a version you should not have or not use for production.

            Hi there!

I had a similar problem while importing from ArchiCAD via 3ds. My glass showed the same symptoms as FOB described.
So I deleted the face which was causing the problem and created a simple plane instead and applied the glass material and it looked fine for it
self, but a soon as I activated the rest of the window ( which I had turned off in between) I had the same problem again.
What I found where Coincident faces. One face had its normals outwards and one inwards into the model.
So I always thought it was only one face because I always thought to have two sided activated, but that wasn't the case.
It helped me, so maybe you have the same - but its just a guess. I'm using 1.09r on max 5.1

              HI FOB

Well i think you should just go on trying it with vray. I also know lightscape and its a good renderer, making very brillant and good interior renderings.

But it´s always hard to change to another system. Only thing i can say, Vray for me right now is the fastest and Best rendering solution for Architects on the market. It produces good results much faster than most of it compettitors only loosing very little of its quality (compared for example to brazil). But youget your results sofast, it most time is worth it. and also if you want the very very perfect results, you can tweek vray, and it does the job like brazil.

you should still give it a tray. it´s worth it. And of course like in every other software, "there are only two way´s to make perfect programs and only the third works )

At last this comuity is worth trying it.
