  • Render Settings for Rebus

    Hi,
I've got a 72 frame animation to put up on Rebus render farm, what are the best GI settings to keep consistent lighting over all frames. At the moment renders are coming out really dark and odd looking, nothing like I'm rendering locally.

Thanks in advance for any advice, appreciated.

    Cheers,
    Elliot

    Hi,

What is the current GI setup?
You can run a test with BF/LC and see if there are any issues.

About the differences between the local render result and the one form the Rebus farm, make sure that all of the maps used in the scene has been transferred to them.
Can you define where difference come from ? Is it in the GI pass, Lighting or maybe a Gamma issue. Any information that you can share for this issue will be much appreciated.

what you see is the GI press not the render
we output the GI prepass as a preview for ... render itself overwrite them

What V-Ray version you are using for local rendering and what is installed on the Farm?
Best GI settings is something that depends from scene to scene and there is no universal solution which will work in every scenario.
Can you show us what is the difference between a frame being rendered locally and the same one rendered on the farm?

Could be wrong Gamma settings, sometimes I have same situtation, what you see in VFB is different from what is saved, much darker.

Maybe "Don't render final image" was accidentally left on when it was submitted?

I think it would be helpful if this was mentioned somewhere where noobs such as myself would see it. This morning I almost ended up cancelling my render when I saw my frames were only my GI passes, thought something was wrong. Then I noticed they were every 10th frame, and that they were smaller in file size, and that they were just GI prepasses that would be overwritten.
Still scared me though until I realised.

I almost had to pester poor Kevin at Rebus support again!

Why do you guys send GI prepass as a preview and not final render of one frame?

since we render the GI first!
insteat of deleted the GI prepass images we save it and user can downlaod
in many cases user can see enought to proof the correcet camera is setup - no objects missing - ..
with preview i not mean a final image in final quality - its more a "is all ok" preview
