  • Vray materials problem

I'm try to create a simple metal cladding material for the exterior of a building I have modelled, but I just can't get what I want. Can anyone advise me on how to do this? It needs to be a light grey (which no problem to do) with a subtle sheen, which is where I'm having problems.

    hi
well you could do it several way's.

you could have a vray material, reflection = grey with glossy at around 0.6 with 10 sibdivs... or there abouts you'll have to play with the settings to suit you.

or you could use a standard material give it the specular level that you want and then place an Omni in your scene with just specular ticked, that will give you quite a nice sheen to the metal.

    hope this helps

For metal w/ VRayMat you should also use the Ward shader and set Fresnel on with an IOR from 8-16 or so.
