Hello and thank you for your time.
I'm trying to create a material that is rather matte or diffuse but has sparkling spots scattered all around it that moves in the light. The best way for me to describe it is in the image attached. Notice the rather textured and matte snow but with high specularity sparkles of ice crystals that catch the light at different angles. The matted or diffuse snow shows a shadow and illuminated areas but the sparkling crystals tend to catch the light whether it is in the shadow or illuminated, so it sparkles in both shade and light. Even cooler as an extra level of detail is to show the light refraction of the sparkling crystals that subtly and randomly show the colours of the light spectrum!
Mind you this is a large scale and zoomed up in the image and the material I would use with be scaled down so all you would see are smaller bright sparkles that sparkle randomly and quickly if the light or object moves.
I've tried masks using blend materials with a matte and a high gloss material but it doesn't quite look right. Are there better tricks I can use? thoughts?
