  • V-Ray RT

I just noticed this morning that I can get any new scenes to render with V-Ray RT and I think I found out why and just made a new clean scene to test and it still broke.

    1. new scene drop in any object " I used a cylinder"
    2. add v-ray dome light, add vray HDRI to the light (in my case picked a spherical map)
    3. I added a *jpg spherical map to the environment map
    4. normal rendering works great and as expected
    5. switch to RT and hit render with CPU, CUDA or OpenCL and it will hang for a bit trying to load the ENV map and then crash
    6. turn off Use Map in environment dialogue and hit render and it renders as normal.

specs and SW versions in my tag below.

*Edit* Crap this was supposed to go into bugs... Ignore this thread.
    Cheers,

How large is the environment map? Can you send it to me at vlado@chaosgroup.com ?

    Best regards,

Sure thing, Ill package the scene and send it right away.

Give it 15 or so min, had to use wetransfer as it was too big, prob due to the HDRI image and our internet access is painfully slow. 15 min for a 30Mb file is insane lol

I've reproduced the crash only on CUDA and logged it in our bug tracking system.
If it was that easy, it would have already been done
