Got my dongle today. Has anybody migrated mid-project? If so, any issues?

Migrating in the middle of a project is maybe not a good idea. While things will most probably be fine, it's better to be on the safe side.

When the beta for vray 3 was available I made the switch during a project. But I had a longer work relation with the client so I knew if something would break I could talk it over. Overall I didn't have a single problem related to the job and everything went well. But having said that I agree with Vlado it is probably not the best idea to do this mid project because stuff can break even if it shouldn't.

If you decide to make the switch though, make sure you save an version of your project that is working flawlessly with your current installed vray version. So you at least have a backup you know that works.
      Cheers,
      Oliver

I jumped in the pool and it's going great! The Quick Presets seems to be a Solid Rocks killer, don't you think? I do like the stream lines interface; very well thought out. I am not sure if I'll get cleaner and faster renders, but at least now I'll know what you guys are talking about.

I am doing my first exterior with V-Ray 3, using the V-Ray Quick Presets, and it is a lot faster. I love being able to simply slide the slider over. I generally know what the numbers should be to get a decent render, so it's nice seeing what is being changed as I slide.

I can only make money if i can do good renderings fast; that's the name of the game. I'm loving it!

Right? -- more than a few of us (me included) were all: "Don't bother with it! Don't need any easy ways!"

There's a time and place for almost everything, so we were wrong, but that's a good thing...
