  • Prob - Irradiance map for animation

    G`day guys,

I have got a problem with flickering when using irradiance map for animation. Each frame the lighting is a little bit different causing the animation to flicker. I have calculated the irradiance map every 10 frames saved it and reused it.

    - I am using multiframe incremental and autosave and every 10 frames with dont render final image (only compute GI maps)

    - Then i switch to from file and use the irradiance map and render every frame.

Is there something I am doing wrong in the above process? I would really like to use irradiance maps in future projects because I am getting great render times there is just this problem holding me back. Could one of you VRAY gurus please help.

    Cheers

    Seth

posting your settings would probably be the smartest thing you could do to get good help.

It seems your workflow is correct but there has to be something wrong when a loaded Imap flickers. You render a flythrough right? (nothing is moving) When you render your animation with the reused Imap, does Vray a prepass? (This could be a Glossie-Pass that could cause Flickering)

1.) Make sure you really clicked "from file"
2.) Make sure it's not an authorisation Problem (you can test it with a scene without gi)
3.) Make sure that no interpolated glossies cause the Flickering - Glossies have to be calculated every Frame. If they flicker, increase the samples or the settings of the thresholds. If this does not work you have to use uninterpolated glossies with samples <20. (They need more rendertime though)

Feel free to ask again if it's not working.

I hate to state the obvious, but it sounds like an authorisation problem.

            it does sounds suspisious.
is it just elements in your animation that are flickering or the whole frame, going from dark to light frame to frame?
